Travel Diary Part 3.1: Helsinki /// Sightseeing & BtSSB Tea Party

So, last time I wrote down some fond memories of the unfortunately last Hellocon.
It may have been the end of Hellocon, but our Lolita week end in Helsinki was only halfway over!

On Sunday, there was the long awaited Baby the Starts Shine Bright Tea Party!
It took place in the hotel we were staying at, so we decided to spend our free morning with some sight seeing. Tanja had never been to Helsinki before, so we decided to show her to closest and most important landmarks we could think of. It was a rainy and rather cold morning, but a walk with some fresh air was really nice and well needed after spending so much time indoors the day before.

Travel Diary Part 3.1: Helsinki /// Hellocon, Modeling & more!

Hello & welcome back to another part of my 2016 travel diary ^_^
I am waaaaay behind with everything, but my goal is to finish writing up all my travel experiences before December XD And in this case, even if it's been quite some time, I had a good time and I want to preserve this memory here!

So, as I told you last time, there was a third city starting with "H" that I visited, and of course many already knew or guessed that it was Helsinki! ^_^
The occasion was Hellocon, and it was my first time traveling to another city for a big Lolita event, and also my first time visiting Helsinki in summer. It was interesting and a little bit strange for me, to see the city without any snow, haha. But it is just as beautiful!

The day my world broke into pieces

So, it's been a while since I found time to write and right now, I am still super busy and have things to do that others would consider more important. But I thought about a couple of things, about my life, and realized that one reason I am still keeping this blog around is because it's my diary and I want to be able to write about my thoughts whenever I feel like it.

And that's exactly what I feel I need to do right now.

My birthday is in one week and I will turn 26. Twenty-six! This number is scary. I am starting to realize how the older I get, the more things that happened in my childhood and teenage years I'm starting to forget. Sadly, it's mostly the fun and happy memories. The bad ones of course stick around.

Travel Diary Part 2: Hongkong

Hello & welcome to part 2 of my travel diary!

In just a couple of weeks I visited three cities starting with H.... the first was Heidelberg, and the second Hongkong. This entry will be much longer, simply because I spent more time in the city and not just 10 h a day at a seminar :) Though it was a business trip, I was there with two colleagues and we had some free time which we spent sight seeing and getting to know the city. It was particularly exciting for me, because it was my first trip to Asia in general!

Travel Diary Part 1: Heidelberg

Hello my dear readers,

Finally I want to start my 2016 travel diary! It's really been a long time since I've traveled so much and got around like this. But thanks to my awesome job I get to visit exciting new places as part of my work AND get to learn new things. In May this year, I spent a week in Heidelberg, Germany,w here I attended a workshop/seminar for my field. It was a lot of fun and very educational, and if the course is re-organized next year, I might even get to be a tutor! But for now, I just want to show you some of my impressions from my first "official" business trip :)
So this post will be something different for change, no outfit or makeup posts but just some travel blabla :D

Review: DollyEye Rosy Rosa Violet

Hello my dear readers!

It's been a long time since the last lens review - I've had these since winter but because I was working so much I barely found time to doll up and go out, and when I did the light was already abysmally bad. But now summer has come, and the evenings are still bright so I was able to take some photos
for a review :)

With my new raven pendant from Talking To Myself Jewelry

The lenses I am wearing here are DollyEye Rosy Rosa Violet and as usual, they are from Lensvillage.
I picked these lenses because I fell in love with the pattern - as the name of the lens already indicates, it looks like tiny, winding roses. It's really very pretty, and I hoped that the fact that the color fades towards the middle would allow the purple color to blend in with my natural eye color.
They come in several colors and of course with prescription!

A book that changed my life

Last week, German author and blogger Guddy shared a picture asking to "Name a book that changed your life" and since we only recently talked about our favorite childhood books, I was reminded of my favorite book again: The Golden Compass - or rather, the entire His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman.

As you can see, the German books are quite old and well-used. We're missing the English version of book 1, I guess I should get it some time soon!

The second time I thought about the books again was when I realized that I forgot to post one day of the #piitstagram challenge (you can find more information about what it is in this entry and my previous posts on my Instagram): to post a picture of my favorite book.

I realized that there is a lot I want to say and typing it all on my phone in an instagram post will not be sufficient. So I decided to write a blog post.

Picture My Day #20

Yesterday was once again "Picture My Day" Day!
This time organized by Owley, I was actually prepared this time in advance and set a cell phone alarm to remind me about the day before midnight... but then my day was so boring that throughout I ended up not taking many photos after all XD
But anyhow, here's my day in pictures!

And of course I didn't get to bed before midnight XD

40 days no meat personal challenge, PIIT28 and other health and food blabla

Hey guys,

How was your week end?
For me, these days I'm a bit stressed, but in a very positive way because there's a lot of events with friends or family - unfortunately, they mostly involve food and I think by now I feel like I'm in my third month of "food pregnancy" XD

It also comes at a bit of an inconvenient time, because this year, I decided to eat no meat for lent, and in Austria (especially on the country side), many restaurants have very limited numbers non-meat dishes on their menu. While I am not religious, I like the idea of setting myself a fixed time frame or deadline to do something, it helps me stay motivated. Originally, I wanted to learn how to cook new recipes without meat. I don't eat it very often, but I'm very unoriginal when it comes to cooking, so we usually end up eating the same 20-30 meals over and over. Well, it didn't go as planned because I had so little time to cook in general that I quickly reverted back to my well known recipes, although I learned about some meat alternatives and got a bit creative considering where I can leave it out or substitute it with something else.

Fallaffel instead of Chili wraps turned out to be really great, I just have to learn to make them all by myself instead of buying the ready-made ones ^^"

Yuki Matsuri Tea Party @KHM Vienna

Hello my dear readers!

Are you tired of Lolita content yet? No? Well then continue reading please! :)

Last week end, there was a small Tea Party in Vienna, organized as always by Gothic Lolita Austria ♥ At that week end, there was also the Yuki Matsuri, a small and new convention, and the Tea Party basically was part of the convention, though not at the same venue. To get a ticket for the Tea Party, I also had to get a Sunday ticket for the con, so I spent a full day in Vienna and had lots of fun!

The venue for the Tea Party was the beautiful KHM - Kunsthistorisches Museum. Last time I went there in 2014, and it was actually the first time that I wore Lolita in public for an occasion other than a meet up! The employees at the museum were really nice back then, and also this time. When I arrived, I was a bit late because I came by car and had underestimated the traffic, but luckily there was a guest list so I could get in without hurrying to the location of the convention first to pick up my physical ticket.

Happy Deadpool Day!

Actual conversation between me and my boyfriend:

Me: So, you know what movie is coming out the 12th ?
Him: ...?
Me: Deadpool!
Him: Ah! Cool!
Me: You know what's on the 14th?
Him: ....?
Me: Valentine's Day! Wanna go watch Deadpool and make fun of all the guys who have to take their girlfriends to watch some boring chick flick? :D

And so we went!
Actually we already went yesterday because I have to work today (Sunday), and it's a bit hard to watch a movie in English when there are only 2 cinemas in Vienna who show them... but anyway!

And it was a blast, I can tell you that. Haven't laughed so much in a single movie, I think, ever.

Welcome to 2016!

Hello there, long time no see!

I had wanted to post before New Year's but I didn't find the time, and then so many things happened all at once... well, better late then never!

First things first - I am super happy to tell you that two weeks ago I passed my Master's exam so now I am officially "Master of Science" :D
I can't really describe how happy I am. Years ago, when I was still in school, I was thinking about how it would be like to be all grown up and hold a degree and work in science and all that. And now that dream has come true! I am still working at the institute where I worked on my Master thesis, and will do my PhD there, and I'm really excited about upcoming research projects.

First selfie of 2016 with my new phone ^__^
